introducing... Holiday Childress - vocals and guitar

What can we say about Holiday Childress? One of the first sightings of his interest in music was when he was a little boy living in England. His mother said that Holiday would walk around the front yard carrying a toy guitar and wearing these Elton John looking sunglasses that were too big for his head and he would sing "I'm a fool, I'm a fool" over and over again. After a feebile attempt at the trombone in sixth grade he switched to the guitar because he'd met a very enthusiastic Michael Allen. Michael wanted to form a band and started by suckering Holiday into it. He literally TOLD Holiday that he was going to be the guitar player so he went out and got one and began taking lessons. Ironically he began taking lessons from the exact same teacher as Patrick and on the same night but the two wouldn't meet each other for another 7 years.
Holiday didn't begin playing with the intention of singing. He was the main guy in his high school band who wrote songs and their singer, although he always showed up to practice with a new girl on his arm, apparently wasn't cutting the mustard. So they kicked out the old singer and Holiday started singing. There are actually tapes from this era still in existance. Let's just say that it took a little while for Holiday to find his niche. By the time The Goodies formed Holiday had performed countless shows and had finally struck something completely natural. No one knew he had a falsetto including himself until he began playing with The Goodies, his style just kinda happened one day in the practice room. Musicianship is just a part of what he does, most of all he entertains. Patrick will tell you that"Holiday's energy and mood dictate almost everything that the group does, his energy and excitement are completly infectious. Once you've felt something like that it's almost pointless to go and play with anyone else. Look at Michael, he started playing with Holiday when they were 11 years old and he's still with him. Me, I have no desire whatsoever to play with another singer for the rest of my life."
