the History of "the Goodies!"
band

It was in junior high when Holiday Childress and Michael Allen began collaborating musically, thus beginning their lifelong obsession with music. In high school the two youngsters emerged from their garage and found guitarist Robin Finck (formerly Nine Inch Nails currently Guns and Roses). The three made up the group Sik Dik, and they all took the time to learn and mature musically. In 1993 Allen and Childress dissolved the group in order to strenghthen their artistic versatility. With the addition of bassist Patrick Kelly, the Goodies were born. The three seem to have found their niche.

By combining a truly original sound with an infectious stage energy The Goodies, within one year, gained critical praise and a diverse cult-like following throughout the Southeast. In 1995 the group crossed the Georgia border and took their musical sideshow on the road. They began playing the Southeastern Music Circuit. Touring as far as Washington D.C., New Orleans, and Orlando Florida, The Goodies bagan to take shape, and the fans took notice. Their touring schedule became so busy that it enabled The Goodies to focus on the group alone. Their hard work and dedication to their goal sparked the interest of Atlantic Records Vice President Janet Billig who was so impressed with the group that she signed them to a demo deal in 1995.

They continued touring and recording independently until mid 1999 when the three decided to take an extended break. Allen moved to Hollywood to pursue soundtrack and session work and was able to release a solo album titled "Selected Compositions." Childress took time off to prepare for the arrival of his first child, while Kelly returned to college to study French and Poetry.

Three days after Christmas 2000, due to requests from their fans, The Goodies came together to do a one time reunion show in Asheville, North Carolina. Realizing the chemistry was stronger and better than ever they immediately set to work on writing new songs. Within two weeks of the reunion Allen had moved back from Hollywood. After six months the band had released their independantly recorded Postcard EP. The Goodies are now currently touring, writing, and independently recording their next full legnth album due in the fall of 2002.
